Miravalles Volcano and Natural Hot Spring

Your adventure begins with a visit to the stunning Llanos de Cortez waterfall (weather permitting). This secluded gem features a breathtaking 30 ft high and 40 ft wide cascade, flowing into a serene white sand pond. Here, you can swim, hike, climb, or simply relax in this natural paradise.

Next, we’ll head to Volcán Miravalles, Costa Rica’s only active volcano. Marvel at the secondary crater and experience the thrill of seeing and feeling the smoke rising from the boiling, muddy caldrons and steam vents. Standing 6,653 feet high, it’s the tallest peak in the Guanacaste mountain range. Enjoy the therapeutic sulfur springs, soothing fumaroles, and invigorating bubbling mud pots. Relax in the hot springs and indulge in the volcanic mud before embarking on a unique 20-minute tractor-pulled cart ride to the start of a private reserve. This picturesque area is surrounded by amazing waterfalls and lush nature. Enjoy a moderate 45-minute hike where you’ll visit three different waterfalls, crossing wobbly bridges and immersing yourself in the beauty of the environment.
